I won this book from the Goodreads Giveaway. I am a child of the 80s and I love everything about it. The music, the movies, etc. This books is about the authors life during the 80s. Each chapter is named after a song and how it related to his life. I can totally relate to this because my life has a huge soundtrack. If I hear the remade version of "It's My Life" by No Doubt or "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters I instantly think of when both of my kids were newborns. Why you may ask? Because I would watch MTV for those middle of the night feedings because that is the only time they played videos and those two got played every night. Anyway, if you are too youngs to remember much during that decade or if you don't really like it than you may not enjoy this book. I liked it but I think it was mainly because it brought back a lot of memories from my childhood.
Too cool! I am the same way about songs and smells. They define my life and the important events. I can smell something or hear something and tears will immediately well up in my eyes remembering something that was so special in my life. :)

ReplyDeleteCandace if you had only posted this comment about 2 hours earlier I would have sent you my copy. It was an Advanced Reader Copy but I was able to get rid of it for a credit on PBS's messageboards.
ReplyDeleteOh man! Ha! That's okay! YOu know, as active as I am on pbs, you would think I would know what you were talking about with message boards, but I have no clue what you're referring to. I'm gonna have to get on there and check that out if that's another avenue for getting books! :)
ReplyDeleteOn the message board there is a page titled Book Bazaar. You can offer deals on the books on your bookshelf or you can ask for a credit for books that are not postable. Also, I have enrolled in the Box of Books and I have been able to get rid of a lot of my books that there are quite a few of in the system.
