Let's Vote AGAIN!!! :)

While I would be completely fine with having all four of these books as books of the month, I think if we do that, we won't have time to read books that we WANT to read as well, so let's go ahead and vote again, girls. :)

The four books that tied in voting are....

The Beach Club

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

The Art of Racing in the Rain

Girl In Translation

Voting ends SUNDAY MIDNIGHT!!! :):)

VOTE!!!

Okay, guys, let's vote on June's books!

There weren't many nominations, so let's just vote for your TWO favorites. :)

And sorry this post is a day late. Yesterday I became temporary mother to one of my friend's three children, so until Monday I have an 8 month old, two 2 year olds, a 5 year old, and a 7 year old! Wow! ;)

It's going quite well, though, we're in a routine now, so it's not nearly as chaotic as it sounds. :)

Can't wait to see which books are chosen!!!

Voting ends tomorrow, FRIDAY, at midnight!!!

June suggestion...

hmm ok June suggestion...just finished watching Oprah and this book seems just "fabulous" ...lol The movie will be coming out August 13, starring Julia Roberts!

June Suggestions

Here are my three suggestions for June:

The concept on this book sounds a little weird but it has a 4 1/2 start rating and it has been reviewed by 828 people so it must be pretty good.

I also needed to suggest something off of my need to read shelves and this is the one I picked.

This is a book on my really want to read list.

Sorry guys I am not able to link the titles to websites so you will have to look them up for more info. :)

My June Suggestions

I am nominating three books and they are all completely different from one another.

Click on the name of the books that are highlighted and colored to read about them.

The first one is The Beach Club

I'm nominating it for obvious reasons.. it's written by Elin Hilderbrand and you all know I'm obsessed with reading her summer books this summer. ;)

The second book I'm nominating is The Inheritance of Loss.

I've heard and read good things about this book, so I thought it would be a fun suggestion.

And this is probably the most different of them all!

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

My MOM actually recommended this to me. She pretty much reads whatever hits the bestseller section of Barnes and Noble and this was there, so she read it! ;)

She loved it and it's different, so I thought I'd recommend it.

June's Book of the Month!!!

Okay, girls, time for nominations! :)

Please do a post nominating 1-3 books that you're wanting to read so we can vote!

Please do this by Wednesday midnight.

Thanks so much!!!

Can't wait to see what you girls come up with!!! :)

The Love Season

I'm pretty much on a mission this summer to read everything Elin Hilderbrand has ever written.

Seriously.

Her stories are so engrossing and non-stop.

Love them.

This one was no different. This whole novel was centered around ONE DAY.

I read this whole thing while I was flying Friday. It was great, I highly recommend it. :)

:(

I feel crappy because I haven't been a faithful Book Nooker the past few months....I have tried, I really have! However, I went from working 2 days a week to 3, often 4, sometimes 5 days a week and so, there went my stolen moments of "me time"! :( AND, my husband broke a vertebrae in his back last weekend water skiing, and it has been INSANELY busy for me: working, taking care of his every need, our 2 lil boys, and ALL the household chores. I just want all of you that post and review books on here know that I appreciate all your posts. Some of the books discussed here are ones that I have eyeballed and wondered if I would like, but uneasy to give them a try not knowing if they were good;) ps I gave The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo a good shot, I got 75ish pages in, though, and had to let it go.......just not an "escaping" read to me:( Books have to grab me and hold me (with not much thought process involved apparently, LOL) or I just can't do it...funny, though, because I did enjoy Olive Kitteridge and some others didn't love it...oh, well..just sharing. Keep up the posts, ladies, I do enjoy and appreciate them!

Those Who Save Us

I started reading this book next since I already owned it. I'm on page 95 and I think it's pretty good so far. The book alternates between the story of mother Anna during WWII and the current story of her daughter Trudy and their difficult relationship. How is everyone liking the other book? I have it downloaded on my Kindle so I will moving on to it next.

Sarah's Key

Based on recommendation from someone in this group (I believe it was Candace) I bought this book and recommended it as my other books club's book for May. It was the one selected (it barely beat out Let the Great World Spin). I just finished it this morning and oh my gosh I so loved this book. I was hooked from the very first chapter. I loved the alternating chapters in the beginning and usually books like that I'm interested in one story more than the other and can't wait to finish the chapter so I can get back to the really good story. That was not the case with this book, I was interested in both the past and present story. If there is anyone that has not read this book yet I definitely recommend it.

A Summer Affair and Summer People

Elin Hilderbrand is my new FAVORITE author.

No doubts. No questions. No kidding.

She is A-MAZING.

This book...

touched me so... I could identify with every character's inner struggles and turmoil. The events were so real, the story... unforgettable.

When I finished this book sitting in my chair on the beach, late Saturday afternoon, I literally hugged it to my chest and kissed it. I'm pretty sure I've never kissed a book before.

'Summer People' is what I picked up a few hours after I finished 'A Summer Affair'.

It's also SO GOOD!!! I can't get over this author and her ability to created these dynamic characters and weave a story SO PERFECTLY.

I HIGHLY recommend both of these as well as 'Barefoot', which I blogged about last week.

I intend to read every book this author has written.

They are THAT. GOOD.

Let the Great World Spin

So, I kind of had to cheat and read this one last week because it is due back to the library on Monday and I couldn't renew it because so many people want it. I REALLY liked it. Not sure if it's going to wow a lot of you so I wanted to give everyone a head's up. It's got some dark subject material and it isn't really a "happy" book. It's centered in New York City in the 70s and deals with slew of different characters similar to the storyline in "Olive Kitteridge". Unlike Olive though, all the characters are connected somehow (except a few, which I'm still trying to figure out how/why they were included). Each character is explored in depth and seems so real. I thought it was fantastic and hope you do too :-)

Somebody PLEASE!!!!

Tell me 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' gets BETTER!

PLEASE!!

I paused in the middle of 'The Glass Castle' yesterday to start this book and it's killing me so far!

I think I read around 30 pgs last night and I finally put it down, because I realized I was reading, but not taking in any of the information. I was having to read pages over and over.

This book has gotten so much excellent praise, I feel like it HAS to start getting good at some point.... I'd just like to know when that point is...

Barefoot

Girls.

Read this. You won't regret it. It's excellent from the very start. The characters are dynamic and engaging and very easy to identify with.

I loved every sentence of this book and I can't wait to read more from this author!!

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Has anyone started???? I know it's the weekend and people are proabably out doing something fun :-), but I've started and it's good. Really good. The first 50 pages were kind of rough...I thought it was going to be kind of boring, but I think they set the stage for stuff to come, because once I got into it, I can't put it down. Hopefully you like it too :-)
