This book was selected by one of my other book clubs. Very quick read, I think it took be 2 days to read it.
The story is about a family who comes together for their parents 35th wedding anniversary. As the story unfold you see all the problems the different family members are trying to hide (unhappy marriage, pregnancy, cancer, etc.) but like with most books all secrets come out in the end. The story was quite comical at times and no matter how screwed up everyone is you can't help but like them. One of the things I like about the book was each chapter was told from a different character's view point. I think it made for a more interesting read.
This is Kristina Riggle's debut novel. I would definitely be interested in reading something else by her.
oooh! Right up my alley! Putting it in my library que right now! Thanks Tempie!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really good, I'm going to have to put this on my list to read. I love books that are told by different characters throughout.. like "The Help".
ReplyDeletethis looks like a book I would really enjoy!....100 pgs left in "The Help".....if I could get the boys to stop fighting like wild animals I could get through it faster! I have a GYN appt today that I am SO looking forward to bc I will be able to read in peace while waiting! LOL;D
ReplyDeletethat's funny, Heather. I used to get so excited about my appointments when I was pregnant for my second one. I would make sure to be there at least 20 minutes early so I could read in peace. And the six week check up afterwords!!!! I dreamt about that for weeks :) Now, I make sure I'm early for everything whenever I get the chance to leave the house; gyn appointments, dentist appointments, hair appointments. Ahhhh.....the simple things :) Hope you were able to enjoy your reading today!
ReplyDeleteHA!! HA!! I am the same way. I leave early everyday to pick my son up from school so I can have 10 mins of reading. The funny thing is my two year sits in her seat and does the same thing.
ReplyDeleteha ha; I went early and they called me back early! ugh! lol, I got a little reading in..... And I do the very same thing, I go at least 20 mins early to get in the "pick up line" when getting my oldest from school. ;) with any luck at all my 3 yr old naps (or plays) in the backseat
