The Island

I started this last night and really like it so far. I am at the 14% point so probably about page 59. Has anyone else started it yet?

    I'm going to read it next. I can't wait. I wanted to start today, but when I was on the way out the door to Emma's ballet class, I couldn't remember where I had stuck it and One Day was right in front of me on my bookshelf, so I started it instead!

    I finished this book Saturday morning. I was a little concerned to begin with because I know how much Candace and some of the rest of you have raved about Elin Hilderbrand so I have bought a few of her books, I just haven't read them yet. With that being said the first half of this book didn't grab me. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a case of where I couldn't wait to pick it up again. With that being said I read the last 200 pages in about a 6 hour time period. It really grabbed my interest and I couldn't wait to see what happened to each of the characters. I wasn't too entrigued about India, her story just seemed to be okay.

    I'm so glad you ended up loving it, Tempie! It's taking me a million years to read ONE DAY. F'real. I really do like the story idea, but it's just one of those stories that moves so sslllllooooowwww for me. So there isn't a ton of "OH I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT CHAPTER".. much like you said "THE ISLAND' was. I'm only on like... pg. 80 and I"ve been reading it for A WEEK! So, at this pace, I may not finish til Thanksgiving. Ha!

    Now, back to THE ISLAND, I really wish I had started this one when you did Tempie so we could talk about it. I think you should read either A SUMMER AFFAIR or BAREFOOT next. I don't know about Heather, but those are my two favorites of hers. However, Nantucket Nights is also awesome.

    Okay, I"m on pg 50 in The Island and I reeeeallllyyyy love it!!! I can tell this is going to be one of my faves of hers!! I'm already hooked and hate to put it down everytime I pick it up!

    I finished this last night and I LOVED IT!!! I do not know what it is about Elin Hilderbrand and her writing, but she always strikes such a chord with me. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But it's like her characters teach me the EXACT lessons that I NEED to know. I always end up crying at some point and running my hand over the words on the page as if they are part of me. Weird. I know. Stop calling me a freak.

    This book was amazing to me. I loved the characters, I loved their stories. And I loved how every single thing played out for each one of them. This one, I'd love to read a sequel to... or see it in movie form.

    And just as with "A Summer Affair" upon finishing it, I closed it, hugged it to my chest and kissed the cover before returning it to my shelf. ;)
