Help!!

After I read "Olive Kitteridge", which I'm about to start, I want to start the series that "The Other Boelyn Girl" is a part of.

Is the first one "The Constant Princess"? That's what I'm thinking, but I don't know!

Ahhh!!!

Someone please tell me. :)

  1. Candace, check out Philippa Gregory's website. Under Frequently Asked Questions it has the chronological order the books go in. It's confusing because she didn't write them in order. To answer your question though, The Constant Princess is the first one.

  2. I read this book about the time the movie was in theaters, and so the copy I bought had the picture of Scarlet Johannsen and Natalie Portman on it. So, the entire time I was reading it, I had pictures of them in my minds as the characters. EXCEPT...I was getting them backwards. I was thinking Scarlet was playing Anne the whole time (for some reason she comes across as more an Anne-type to me....) and Natalie was sweet little Mary. Plus, doesn't the book describe Mary as having dark hair?? Even though I knew they weren't cast as such (one is wearing the "B" necklace in the picture on the cover) I couldn't help thinking this way. Needless to say, when I finally got around to watching the movie a few months ago I was terribly confused. I wish publishers wouldn't do that to book covers. The only movie I thought picked actors dead-on to play their respective parts was "revolutionary road" with Kate Winslet and Leo Dicaprio. That is exactly how I pictured them in the book and the movie did a good job with the story.

Anyway, LOVED this book and I did read the Constant Princess afterwards too (it's easy to get sucked into her stories, isn't it?) but I didn't like it as much. And the movie was decent on it's own, but my confusion didn't help :)

  3. Okay, so should I just forget all the others, and just read The Other Boelyn Girl? Which one do you guys think I should read first? I can't believe she didn't write these books in order, Tempie, that is so nuts!!! I can't imagine how she kept all that straight while writing if they were written out of order! Obviously she's a talented lady.

  4. I say go ahead and read The Other Boelyn Girl. I really loved it and I would hate for you to read one of her other books that may not be as great and be turned off to her.

I'm hoping to start Olive Kitteridge soon. I started reading this John Grisham book on Saturday thinking it wouldn't take me very long and it looks like it is.

  5. For sure read The Other Boelyn Girl... you will love it! I didn't read them in order and I had no trouble keeping up with the characters in the story. You don't need the background info. This book will just perk your interest in the back story and history of it all, so that's why you'll want to read the other books. But, I almost think you should read this one first. It's so good!
