  2. Erica, I'm not far behind you. I am on page 118. I was a little concerned when I started the book and Duncan and Annie were on their vacation in the US. I was hoping this book was not going to be about his obsession with Tucker Crow. Once I read the chapter that focused on Tucker my worries were put to rest and I really started enjoying the book.

  3. Me too, Tempie!! I started to get a little worried because it didn't seem to be picking up at all. But then it started to get good, and I think it's going to get even better...yay!!

  4. I read this last month (It came early from the library)- and I wasn't impressed.

It started slow, picked up and I thought it'd have lots of potential, and it just kinda fizzled. I was sad.

I couldn't wait for the book to be done- because I was just tired of reading the lame-ness.

    Harsh. I know....

  5. Ok, I finished. And kinda.... :-(. I was really excited, then not so much towards the end. It did fizzle, Breezi! Not sure why???

I think it did have a lot of potential and I did really like it up until the very end. I liked where it was going with Tucker and him coming to terms with being a complete a**hole dad, but then there really isn't a very good resolution to the whole story. And with Annie??? Not really sure where she left off either? I'm almost wondering if there's going to be a 2nd book....we'll see!

  6. Oh man Erica, I hated to hear you didn't like the ending either. I'm only on page 256 and my goal is to have this finished by tomorrow. I will let you know my thoughts when I am done. I have a feeling I won't be liking it either. :(

  7. Well, I am done with this one. I have to say that I am also disappointed in the ending. I would have liked a little closure on things. Was Annie pregnant and why in the world would she be so stupid to try to anyway? Did she ever have any more contact with Tucker?

Also, just because I didn't like the ending does that mean it's not a good book? I have to say no because I did like it up until the very last page. I would definitely try reading something else by Nick Hornby.

  8. I agree, Tempie. I still liked it overall and would read another of his books as well. Actually, he wrote "About a Boy" and that is one of my favorite movies!! So, that makes me like him even though the ending of this was a little strange. I'm thinking sequel...he left too much unanswered.

  9. Oh man, sorry this one wasn't one of the greats! It's still on my wish list on PBS, but now I don't think I'm going to read it. I don't want to be disappointed like the rest of you guys!!
