Two little girls in Blue.

When my SIL came to visit over Thanksgiving, she brought this book for the plane ride. When she was saying that she couldn't put it down and almost finished it between a layover and a few hours flight time... I thought, what the heck, I'd look at the first few pages.

Girls... I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

The story line is about the kidnapping of two- three year old twin girls. One of the girls gets returned, while the other... who is deathly ill, is kept by the psychotic kidnappers.... BUT, the kidnappers wrote a note to the cops saying that the ill twin was killed... so everyone (but the safe twin) believes that she's dead! AHHHH.

It will pull on every mother's heartstrings. I kept picturing my own three year old in this same situation, and my heart broke for this fictional mother's pain.

I give this book a HUGE thumbs up. :)

  1. I love Mary Higgins Clark. She is always good for a quick read. I actually have this book I just haven't had a chance to read it yet. I definitely look forward to reading it now.

  2. I, too, love Mary Higgins Clark, I've read most of her books and she never disappoints. I have this book... I've had it for a LONG time and I actually read all the way to page 188 (the marker is still there, I checked when I got home from the hospital) and I could not go on.

It wasn't because the book was bad, quite the contrary. This may be TMI, but I went through some abuse as a child and this just hit too close to home for me. Because of my past, I am SO overprotective and TERRIFIED of something happening to one of my kids. I'm a pretty level headed person, but the thought makes me pretty psychotic and I start thinking of ways to torture and kill the evil person who might would ever do anything to one of my kids or anyone else I love.

So, sorry for that little tangent and sorry if that was TMI, but I really think at some point this year, I may give that book another shot. I look at it all the time, as it just sits there staring at me from my bookcases, along with the other books that I've either half finished or not read at all yet.
